Just like the Prospective Learning Plan (PLP) process, college and career advising at North Putnam High School is individualized. We encourage our students to be in the driver’s seat with regard to planning their future, and our Student Services Team is there to assess student interest, provide resources, offer encouragement, and guide them as they work toward their goals. Our counselors are in a position to meet with students whenever they wish to begin exploring secondary and post-secondary options. College and career services include, but are not limited to, support in the following areas:
Utilizing career and college planning tools available through the Academy including YouScience, Scoir, and College Kickstart Building resumes Guiding students toward direct experience opportunities, including internships Navigating college roadmaps Offering a College Seminar elective, informational college nights, and college application workshops Creating and refining a balanced college list based on student’s criteria Accessing financial planning resources and scholarship opportunities
Counselling
The North Putnam’s Student Services Team (SST) – comprised of our school counselors and staff – works closely with the students, parents and faculty to assist with creating and monitoring each student’s Prospective Learning Plan (PLP). The SST is available to provide assistance with educational issues or other concerns that may arise. With a wide variety of educational backgrounds and experience, the SST is able to offer many different perspectives and solutions in guiding our students. We are fortunate to work with passionate professionals who absolutely love what they do, and continue to grow and learn more about the students they work with at the Academy. Students are able to enjoy a variety of events during the school year that build community, connections, and promote school spirit. Most events are designed by students for students. Events provide students with balance from academics and the opportunity to engage with peers outside of the classroom.
For North Putnam High School offers a wide range of academic opportunities, technological and cultural resources. With access to these resources, students will be able to expand their learning beyond the classroom.
